Soon, the weekend came.
곧, 주말이 왔습니다.
As the dawn broke, the country mouse got ready to visit the city.
새벽이 밝자 촌놈 쥐는 시내를 방문 할 준비를했습니다.
"I can't go there empty handed," he thought.
"나는 빈손으로 거기에 갈 수 없다"고 그는 생각했다.
The country mouse collected together a few precious beans.
촌놈 쥐는 귀중한 콩 몇 개를 모았습니다.
Then he put on some clean clothes and left his house.
그런 다음 그는 깨끗한 옷을 입고 집을 나섰습니다.
The town mouse woke up late and yawned.

Many people were wolking quickly and carriages zoomed by.

"Is my nose still in place? Have my whiskers not fallen off?"

The country mouse began to sweat a lot.

At that moment, the town mouse came out of his building to country mouse.
그 순간 시내 쥐가 빌딩에서 나와 촌놈쥐 쪽으로 왔습니다.
"Hey! My friend, over here!"
"헤이! 내 친구, 여기!"
"Wow! Your house is so tall," said the country mouse.
"와! 네 집이 너무 높아(좋아)." 촌놈 쥐가 말했다.
"Follow me."
"팔로우 미"
The town mouse went up to the long pipe.
시내 쥐는 긴 파이프로 올라갔습니다.
The country mouse followed right behind him.
촌놈 쥐가 그의 바로 뒤를 따랐다.
This is my house. Isn't it lovly?"
우리 집이에요. 사랑스럽지 않나요?"
The town mouse's house was very differant from the country the country mouse's house.
시내 쥐의 집은 촌놈 쥐의 집과 매우 달랐습니다.
The furniture was shiny and in the closet were fancy clothes.
가구는 번짝 번짝 빛나고 옷장에는 멋진 옷이있었습니다.
The country mouse began to feel envious.
촌놈 쥐는 부러워하기 시작했습니다.
"After living in the town, you've become a fancy gentleman!"
"시내에 살더니 멋진 신사가 되었구나!"
"Take of those worn out clothes and put these clothes on," replied the town mouse.
"그 낡은 옷은 버리고 이 옷을 입어라," 시내 쥐가 대꾸했다.
The country mouse put the clothes on felt shy.
촌놈 쥐는 그옷을 입었고 머슥함을 느꼈다.
"I also have a present to give you."
"나도 너에게 줄 선물이 있어."
The country mouse remembered the beans that he had brought.
촌놈 쥐는 그가 깐 콩을 가져왔다.
"Beans? Nobody eats this kind of food here," sneered the town mouse.
"콩? 여기는 아무도 이런 음식을 먹지 않아." 도시 쥐가 비웃었다.
The country mouse was embarrassed and put the beans away.
촌놈 쥐는 당황하여 콩을 버렸다.
"I will give you a tour of my house. Follow me."
"내 집을 둘러 보겠다. 팔로우 미."
The town mouse took the country mouse around and showed him whole house.
시내 쥐는 촌놈 쥐를 데리고 집 전체를 보여주었습니다.
The country mouse's mouth fell wide open in surprise.
촌놈 쥐의 입이 놀라서 크게(쩌억) 벌어졌다.
They had come to the last room, the restaurant.
그들은 끄트머리 방인 식당에 왔습니다.
The table was full of meats, sausages, cookies, and cheeses.
식탁에는 고기, 소시지, 쿠키, 치즈가 가득했습니다.
"Wow! This is amazing," said the country mouse.
"와! 이것은 놀랍습니다." 라고 촌놈 쥐가 말했습니다.
He could not believe his eyes.
그는 자신의 눈을 믿을 수 없었다.
He ate and ate without stopping to breathe.
그는 숨도 돌리지 않고 먹고 또 먹었습니다.
Crash!
크라시(후두둑...)!
Form nowhere, a large club fell on to the table.
어디선가 큰 클럽(뭉터기)이 테이블 위로 떨어졌습니다.
"Pesky mice!" said a loud voice.

As soon as the mice dodged the club,

a cat with the claws and sharp teeth charged at them.

The country mouse froze and could not move.

"Run!" shouted town mouse.
"튀어!" 시내 쥐가 소리쳤다.
He was able to run away, but the country mouse nearly got caught,
그(시내 쥐)는 도망 갈 수 있었지만 촌놈 쥐는 거의 잡힐 뻔했습니다.
He had hesitated for too long.
그(촌놈)는 한참 동안 꾸물거렸다.
Coming back to the town mouse's hole, the country mouse was shaking.
시내 쥐의 구멍으로 돌아 왔을 때, 촌놈 쥐는 떨고있었습니다.
"If you want to eat that food, you have to deal with that,"
"그 음식을 먹고 싶다면 그걸 처리해야제."
said the town mouse, without any concern.
마을 쥐는 아무렇지 않은듯 말했다.
Then he quickly iooked outside of the hole.
그런 다음 그는 재빨리 구멍 밖으로 나갔다.
Everyone is gone. Let's go and eat!"
아무도 없네(cat). 가서 먹자!"
"Go there again? Not me."
"또 가? 난 아니야."
The country mouse quickly changed back into his own clothes.
시골 쥐는 재빨리 자신의 옷으로 갈아 입었습니다.
Ahhhh! The country mouse breathed in the smell of cow dung.
아! 촌놈 쥐는 소똥 냄새(촌 냄새)를 맡았다.
"I will never return to the town!"
"나는 결코 시내로 돌아 가지 않을 것이다!"
He chewed on a hard bean and felt happy.
그는(촌놈) 딱딱한 콩을 씹고 행복하다고 느꼈습니다.
A few days later, a letter arrived in the town.
며칠 후, 시내에 편지 한 통이 도착했습니다.
It was from the country mouse.
그것은 촌놈 마우스로 부터...
Dear Town Mouse,
친애하는 타운 마우스,
When you have time, come and visit my house.
시간이 되시면 저희 집에 오세요.
It's not fancy I want to cook for you.

A Town Mouse once visited a relative who lived in the country. For lunch the Country Mouse served wheat stalks, roots, and acorns, with a dash of cold water for drink. The Town Mouse ate very sparingly, nibbling a little of this and a little of that, and by her manner making it very plain that she ate the simple food only to be polite.
한 도시쥐가 시골에 살고 있는 친척을 방문한 적이 있습니다. 시골쥐는 점심으로 밀줄기, 뿌리, 도토리 등을 제공했고, 차가운 물을 조금 마셨다. 도시쥐는 이것저것 조금씩 조금씩 조금씩 조금씩 먹었고, 그녀의 태도로 보아 그녀는 공손하기 위해서 간단한 음식을 먹었다는 것을 분명히 알 수 있었다.
After the meal the friends had a long talk, or rather the Town Mouse talked about her life in the city while the Country Mouse listened. They then went to bed in a cozy nest in the hedgerow and slept in quiet and comfort until morning. In her sleep the Country Mouse dreamed she was a Town Mouse with all the luxuries and delights of city life that her friend had described for her. So the next day when the Town Mouse asked the Country Mouse to go home with her to the city, she gladly said yes.
식사 후에 친구들은 긴 이야기를 나누었고, 오히려 마을 쥐는 도시쥐가 듣는 동안 도시에서의 그녀의 삶에 대해 이야기했다. 그리고 나서 그들은 침대의 아늑한 둥지에서 잠자리에 들었고 아침까지 조용하고 편안하게 잠을 잤다. 그녀의 잠에서 시골쥐는 그녀가 그녀의 친구가 묘사한 도시 생활의 모든 사치품과 즐거움을 가진 마을 쥐라는 꿈을 꾸었다. 그래서 다음날 마을쥐가 시골쥐에게 그녀와 함께 집으로 돌아가자고 하자, 그녀는 흔쾌히 승낙했다.
When they reached the mansion in which the Town Mouse lived, they found on the table in the dining room the leavings of a very fine banquet. There were sweetmeats and jellies, pastries, delicious cheeses, indeed, the most tempting foods that a Mouse can imagine. But just as the Country Mouse was about to nibble a dainty bit of pastry, she heard a Cat mew loudly and scratch at the door.
그들이 도시쥐가 살고 있는 저택에 도착했을 때, 그들은 식탁에 있는 아주 훌륭한 연회의 잎사귀들을 발견했다. 달콤한 고기와 젤리, 페이스트리, 맛있는 치즈, 사실 마우스가 상상할 수 있는 가장 유혹적인 음식들이 있었다. 그러나 시골쥐가 맛있는 페이스트리를 조금 깨물려고 할 때, 그녀는 고양이 한마리가 큰 소리로 울부짖고 문을 긁는 소리를 들었다.
In great fear the Mice scurried to a hiding place, where they lay quite still for a long time, hardly daring to breathe. When at last they ventured back to the feast, the door opened suddenly and in came the servants to clear the table, followed by the House Dog.
쥐들은 공포에 질려 숨돌릴 엄두도 내지 못한 채 오랫동안 가만히 누워 있는 은신처로 달려갔다. 마침내 그들이 감히 연회에 돌아왔을 때, 문이 갑자기 열리고 하인들이 들어와서 상을 치우고, 그 뒤를 집 개가 따랐다.
The Country Mouse stopped in the Town Mouse's den only long enough to pick up her carpet bag and umbrella.
시골쥐는 도시쥐의 굴에 멈춰 서서 그녀의 카펫 가방과 우산을 집어 들었다.
"You may have luxuries and dainties that I have not," she said as she hurried away, "but I prefer my plain food and simple life in the country with the peace and security that go with it."
그녀는 급히 떠나면서 "당신은 내게 없는 사치와 다정함을 가지고 있을 수도 있지만, 나는 평온한 음식과 거기에 어울리는 평화와 안보를 가진 시골에서의 소박한 생활이 더 좋다"고 말했다.
Poverty with security is better than plenty in the midst of fear and uncertainty.
공포와 불확실성 속에서 안보가 있는 빈곤이 풍족함보다 낫다.
